Great Invention

Elisha G. Otis, an American industrialist and inventor, created his "safety elevator" during 1852-1854 while living in Yonkers, NY. This device had a novel safety brake that prevented an elevator from falling even if its rope broke. This innovation changed not only building design, it changed the world.
